Hyderabad: Deputy Commissioner of Police (Madhapur) Shilpavalli on Saturday received an unusual complaint from a 11-year-old girl, who wanted a case to be booked against the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) authorities for dereliction of duty resulting in road crashes.
The complainant, Saher Kaur, a Class Six student met the DCP at her office and submitted the petition in which she said that for the last one year, several requests were made to the GHMC Zonal Commissioner, Serlingampally, to take certain road safety measures to help reduce the permitted speed limit so that the number of road crashes in the area came down.

However, even after several months, the office of the Zonal Commissioner, Serlingampally and the Executive Engineer (Circle 20) failed to take proper steps regarding road safety which were earlier recommended by the Cyberabad Traffic Wing, she wrote in her complaint, adding that frequent accidents were happening with the latest one being on Saturday, where a motorist was injured after a car hit his bike.
“Such road crashes are happening at regular intervals and until road safety measures are put in place to reduce speed, they will continue to occur. Someday, it can turn out to be fatal too,” Saher Kaur said.
Officials said the petition was received and the facts were being verified, after which a case would be booked.
