Five booked for smuggling 150 urea bags to Maharashtra in Adilabad

Adilabad: Police booked five persons, including two employees of the Hyderabad Agriculture Cooperative Association (HACA), for smuggling urea meant for Telangana farmers at subsidised rates to Maharashtra. The incident occurred at Bela mandal centre on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, police seized 150 bags of urea and two vans used in the illegal transport. The seized urea is estimated to be worth around Rs 3 lakh.
Adilabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy said a case was registered against Sunil, proprietor of HACA; Ajay, an employee of the society; Nikhil, a fertiliser trader; and van drivers Wankate Dileep and Chilakalawar Chandrashekar. The five were allegedly involved in transporting the subsidised fertiliser across the border in violation of regulations.
The operation was carried out by Jainath Inspector D Sainath and Bela Sub-Inspector Nagnath.
