Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s clarion call for an united fight against the communal and divisive politics of the BJP, is gaining momentum with leaders from various political parties extending their support. Former Prime Minister and JD (S) national president HD Deve Gowda is the latest leader to join the bandwagon and extend his complete support to Chandrashekhar Rao in the latter’s fight against divisive and communal forces.
On Tuesday, Deve Gowda telephoned Chandrashekar Rao and congratulated him for taking up the huge battle. “Rao Saab, you are fighting very well. All of us must continue the fight against these communal elements. We all stand by you to preserve the secular culture of the country. Continue your fight and you will have our full support,” he said.
On the occasion, Chandrashekhar Rao informed Deve Gowda that he would soon visit Bengaluru to meet the latter on the issue.
Over the past a few months, the TRS President has been vocal against the communal and divisive politics of the BJP. Recently, he raised strong objection to the BJP-led Central government’s interference in the affairs of the States in utter violation of the federal spirit of the Constitution through backdoor policies. He called for unification of all like-minded forces in the country to oust the BJP from the Centre, which has been receiving good response from various regional political parties.
West Benal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress president Mamata Banerjee as well as her Tamil Nadu counterpart and DMK president MK Stalin had already emphasised the need for unification of like-minded political parties. Mamata Banerjee telephoned Chandrashekhar Rao and the duo discussed on holding further discussions in their efforts to unite the like-minded political forces. Stalin announced that the Chief Ministers of non-NDA (BJP)-ruled States will be held soon to discuss the ‘threat posed to autonomy of States’.
During his recent press conference, Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao also indicated that he would soon meet his Maharashtra counterpart Uddhav Thackeray as well as Mamata Banerjee. He stated that they were working out the schedules in this regard, before the meeting of regional political forces.
