From Yellandu to Mecca and back: Man completes Hajj on foot with unwavering devotion
Abid is the second person in India after Shihab Chottur from Kerala to achieve such a feat while fulfilling the Hajj pilgrimage, which is obligatory on every adult Muslim who is physically and financially able to perform it.

Kothagudem: A man from Yellandu has undertaken an extraordinary journey, walking all the way to Mecca (Makkah) in Saudi Arabia to perform the sacred Hajj pilgrimage, one of the five pillars of Islam, fulfilling his spiritual duty with immense dedication and faith.
The pilgrim Mohammed Abdul Abid was felicitated at Yellandu by senior BRS leader Dindigala Rajender and the local Muslims on Friday on his return to his native place after performing the pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
Expressing his pleasure at Abid’s successful completion of the pilgrimage by reaching Mecca on foot, Rajender expressed his hope that the young man would reach even greater heights in life.
Sharing about his spiritual journey, Abid said that he started his 7,500 km long journey to the holy city of Mecca on August 12, 2024 from Yellandu; reached Islam’s holiest city in April, 2025 and returned to Yellandu on Friday.
He stated that the journey was a blessed experience and everything went well as planned and he expressed gratitude to the people who extended their support to him along the way.

It is pertinent to note that Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, is considered as one of the five pillars of Islam. Every adult Muslim,who is physically and financially capable, is obligated to perform Hajj at least once during their lifetime.
