Gaming Act, ganja cases rise in Jagtial despite drop in overall crime
Even as overall crime in Jagtial district declined by 5.05 per cent in 2025, cases registered under the Gaming Act and narcotics laws saw a sharp rise, with police flagging gambling and ganja offences as growing concerns

Jagtial: Though overall crime rate in the district registered a decline, the region saw a spurt in cases booked under Gaming Act in 2025. When compared to the previous year, 82 more cases were registered this year.
The number of cases increased during the last three years. While78 cases were registered in 2023, it increased to 85 in 2024. This year, the figure scaled to 167.
Similarly, there is a jump in narcotic drugs (ganja) cases. So far, a total of 86 cases have been registered. While 13 cases were recorded in 2023, the figure went up to 58 last year.
Compared to the previous year, there is 0.23 per cent decrease in cybercrime cases. While 1,355 cases were reported in 2024, it has come down to 1,355 this year.
There is a 5.05 per cent decline in overall crime rate. This year, a total of 5,620 cases were reported as against 5,919 cases last year.
