Gang stealing pigs for lavish lifestyle in Siddipet nabbed

Siddipet: A gang of thieves have been stealing domestic pigs to sell them to meat sellers and earn money to meet their luxurious needs. The Siddipet police stumbled upon such a gang which was allegedly involved in multiple pig thefts across the Siddipet district. Investigating a theft case filed by a pig rearer of Kodakandla village under Kukunurpally police station, the police nabbed the gang.
The six-member gang had stolen at least 135 pigs over a period of six months in five thefts. Members of the gang, who were addicted to a lavish life, were actually into pig sales earlier. They used to buy pigs from rearers to resell them to meat sellers. Since they were not earning enough to meet their needs, they chose to steal pigs. The accused were identified as M Suresh Kumar (32), Nalgonda Ramu (32), Meda Veeranna (26), and Nalgonda Veeranna (27), all four residents of Yellendu in Kothagudem district. They joined hands with Mothey alias Tuppati Sadulla and Nune Ramesh, both residents of 2-BHK colony near Gajwel town.
A pig rearer, Nune Swamy, a resident of Kodakandla, had on November 19 found 35 out of 60 pigs missing from his shed. Following a complaint from Swamy, the police launched a hunt and nabbed the four accused from Yellandu on November 25 while they were ferrying 33 pigs in a truck near Kukunurpally. The police seized the pigs, an Ashok Leyland truck and Rs 75,000 from them.
The police produced the accused before a Gajwel court. During enquiry, the gang confessed that they were involved in five theft cases in Siddipet commissionerate limits. They were reportedly involved in similar theft cases across the State. Two members of the gang, who hail from Gajwel, were still absconding. The police suggested pig rearers to install CCTV cameras at their sheds. Commissioner of Police Dr B Anuradha and ACP Gajwel Purusottam Reddy appreciated the police for cracking the case fast.
