Hyderabad customs decimates drugs valued at Rs 295 Crore
The narcotics and psychotropic substances were destroyed by way of incineration at Hyderabad Waste Management Project located at Dundigul village, in Medchal Malkajgiri district near Hyderabad.
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad customs officials, as part of ‘Say No to Drugs’ campaign initiated by Government of India on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and illicit Trafficking, destroyed various narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. Drugs totally weighing around 8,946 kilograms which were seized by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and Hyderabad customs were destroyed.
The drugs included Cannabis -2655 kgs, Heroin -11 kgs, Alprazoalam – 409.39 kgs and Ephedrine Hydrochloride and related materials 142.932 kgs of, Ketamine Hydrochloride – 74.92 Kgs, Mephedrone – , 2 kgs, Methaquilone – 53 kgs and 5595.14 kgs of chemicals used for the clandestine manufacture of Ephedrine.
The seized Heroin weighing 11 kgs which is valued around Rs. 77.0 crores was seized during April and May 2022 from foreign nationals of Malawi, Tanzania and Angola at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad.
The narcotics and psychotropic substances valued at Rs.295 crores were destroyed by way of incineration at M/s. Hyderabad Waste Management Project located at Dundigul village.
