Hyderabad: A total of 101 ‘DiLSeY’ volunteers from the IT sector, who completed training in cybercrime, were presented certificates by the Cyberabad Police here on Saturday.
The Cyberabad Police jointly with the Society for Cyberabad Security Council had initiated ‘DiLSeY – Digital Literacy to Secure Youth,’ to create awareness on cybercrime in children and adolescents. The council trained 101 employees in its first batch, who are ready to educate the targeted sections on cybercrimes on social media, online apps, games, fraudulent links, and smart phone addiction among others. They will be imparting awareness to students over the weekends.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner M.Stephen Raveendra said he was happy to be part of the project, which was started by his predecessor VC Sajjanar. He suggested adding another 100 DiLSeY volunteers to the first group, so that they could reach out to more youth.
“It is very important that youth join this activity to secure the society from cybercrime. The Cyberabad police is equipped with the Cybercrime Control Room and request the volunteers to keep sharing cybercrime related incidents instantly to control the crimes faster,” Raveendra said.
Crimes DCP Rohini Priyadarshini and SM Vijay Kumar DCP (Traffic) also spoke.
DiLSeY volunteers can flag cyber bullying messages to Cyberabad Cybercrime Station on 9490617310 or report on http://cybercrime.gov.in.
