Hyderabad: Food safety violations found in schools, mid-day meals, restaurants
Food safety teams in Telangana found multiple violations during inspections at schools, hostels, mid-day meal kitchens, and eateries. Violations included lack of food licenses, synthetic colour use, expired pulses, and unsafe containers. Samples of dal and tamarind were sent for testing.
Hyderabad: Inspections by teams of the Commissioner of Food Safety at Government residential schools, hostels and mid-day meals and private restaurants and supermarkets, have detected several violations related to hygiene and storage.
The inspecting teams reported that some of the facilities did not have food licenses and were using synthetic colors. The teams also detected non-food-grade containers, being used to store food items.
Stocks of expired infested pulses were lifted and later discarded.
Samples of Moong Dal, Black Grams and Tamarind were sent to a laboratory for quality analysis.
“Food Safety, Telangana: Inspections at govt res. schools, hostels & mid-day meals (hygiene advice given) and private outlets (supermarkets, KFC, hotels, sweet shops)- No food license in some units, Synthetic colours being used, non-food-grade containers found. Expired/infested pulses discarded and Samples (Moong Dal, Black Gram, Tamarind) lifted,” the Commissioner of Food Safety posted the update on X.
