Hyderabad: Heavy downpour on Thursday night led to flooding oF roads around University of Hyderabad campus in Gachibowli, as blocked underground drainage pipes caused significant waterlogging.
Commuters on the old Mumbai Highway stretch here faced disruptions. Hydraa commissioner A V Ranganath inspected the affected areas onon Thursday night.
Hydraa and local GHMC officials reported that heavy rains caused all the lakes around here to overflow, resulting in road flooding. Crossing the road in front of the university became impossible, leading to significant waterlogging along the route from Gachibowli to Lingampally.
Officials informed the commissioner that clogged underground drainage pipes were responsible for the issue.
They recommended deploying robotic machines to clear the pipes or, if not feasible, digging up the road to divert water. Ranganath directed officials to expedite the work.
Until the drainage was cleared, the commissioner suggested using engines to drain water and maintaining temporary relief measures to prevent water from stagnating on the road.
