Hyderabad: A social space, Kiraak, has come up at Neredmet. This fills the void on the Secunderabad side, which so far has been lacking one. The place will host live music, stand-up, open-mic and host talks. Its in-house cafe will also serve Continental and English menu.
“We will be a social platform and cultural hub, café, hangout, place for live music, exhibition, flea market, fitness zone and even a workplace. The place is wi-fi enabled. We will also appeal to the bookworms as we have a library too,” says Samuel Sudhakar, banker turned co-founder of Kiraak, the rooftop space with greenery.
“Hyderabad has kiraak food, kiraakest places and full kiraak people. Nothing is modest or average. It is all kiraak,” he says the reason for naming the place Kiraak.
The café will have fixed and limited food offerings and some of the items in the menu. “We have plans to run a restaurant with minimal cooking. We might even go chef-less as we will depend on cloud kitchens and home chefs. We will take pre-orders and the exercise will ensure there is no wastage of food and reduce water consumption and the expenses on purchase of ingredients. The cutlery we use will be biodegradable,” he says adding that opting for cloud kitchens will also enhance the employment opportunities for at-home chefs.
Kiraak, which has been operating for three months now, will soon have hydroponics culture setup to grow its own lettuce, mint, rosemary, coriander.
Sudhakar has plans to start Kiraak Express, which are small format, tea and finger snacks stores, in key locations. Kiraak Cafés, a large format suitable for IT parks, companies and establishments that need a canteen, are also planned. “We will also focus on home-to-restaurant segment. In this format, restaurants offer multiple cuisines and food items sources from home chefs within their location (pincode),” he says.
