Cyberabad CP VC Sajjanar paying last respects to sniffer dog Teena in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Hyderabad: Teena, one of the eldest sniffer dogs with the Cyberabad Police, which helped cops to detect bomb threat calls and nail suspects who made hoax calls as well, died of ill health here on Wednesday. She was accorded a guard of honour on her death.
The Cocker Spaniel female canine, who retired from the force in August 2020, served with the Cyberabad Police over a decade. According to a note from the Cyberabad Police, Teena’s services were prominent during the period of Anurag Sharma, former DGP, and CV Anand and Sandeep Shandilya, former commissioners of Cyberabad.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar along with other senior officials and the Canine Squad staff and Bomb Squad bid a tearful adieu to her.
The officials placed a wreath and paid their last respects with the band playing in the background and three rounds of gun firing.
Teena was trained in Explosive Detection at the Integrated Intelligence Training Academy, Moinabad, and was involved in number of police duties including regular and routine checks, all VVIP and VIP movements, Anti Sabotage checks, RGIA helipad checks apart from during the visit of Ivanka Trump to the city in 2017. Her long and successful career as a Police Dog saw the guard of honour being accorded to her, police officials said.
