Hyderabad, Telangana brace for heatwave as IMD issues orange alert till April 16

Hyderabad and districts across Telangana are set to experience intense heatwave conditions, with the IMD issuing an orange alert till April 16. Temperatures are expected to rise above 44°C, with several districts already recording highs above 41°C.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad and districts across Telangana are bracing for an intense spell of heatwave-like conditions, as India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, has issued an orange (intense heat wave impact) alert for nearly till April 16.

The IMD, Hyderabad, has issued a specific orange alert to Hyderabad on April 16, with maximum temperatures expected to hover between 41 degree Celsius and 44 degree Celsius. The alert remains in effect for multiple districts from April 12 to April 16.


The weather reports from the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) and the IMD, Hyderabad, on Sunday indicated the maximum temperatures to rise by 2-3 degree Celsius above the normal over the next three days.

Between Saturday and Sunday, the maximum temperatures in Telangana were recorded at 41.8 degree Celsius at Chinna Thandrapadu in the Jogulamba Gadwal district. In city outskirts, Maheswaram industrial area in Rangareddy recorded a maximum of 41.2 degree Celsius, Medchal Industrial belt under Medchal-Malkajgiri area recorded 40.1 degree Celsius, while within the GHMC area, the peak was 39.5 degree Celsius at the Ward Office in Nehru Nagar.

Some of the other regions that recorded high temperatures include Gubbagurthy (Khammam) 41.7 degree Celsius, Ghanpur (Nalgonda) 41.7 degree Celsius and Talamadugu (Adilabad) recorded 41.6 degree Celsius.
