Khammam: District Collector Anudeep Durishetty has introduced ‘Bagless Day’ in government schools across Khammam district, to be observed on the fourth Saturday of every month.
The initiative aims to promote creativity and reduce academic stress by encouraging students to take part in games, music, dance, arts and other activities of their interest. Teachers have been instructed to create a cheerful environment that fosters innovative learning.
On Saturday, the Collector visited the Government Primary School at Indira Nagar, where students welcomed him with a bouquet made of paper dolls and flowers. He inspected greeting cards, posters, clay Ganesh idols and other craftwork prepared by the children, besides their dance and singing performances.
Durishetty said the objective of ‘Bagless Day’ was to provide an enjoyable and stress-free experience beyond traditional classroom learning. Students would also be taken to museums, historical places and government offices, and engaged in science experiments, skits, kite-making, artificial intelligence and financial literacy sessions.
He stressed that such skill-based group activities would contribute to overall development. He directed education department officials to implement ‘Bagless Day’ in all government schools on the fourth Saturday every month.
The Collector also appealed to the public to use eco-friendly clay Ganesh idols during Vinayaka Chavithi as part of social responsibility while preserving traditions.
