KITSW students asked to master skills to be best engineers

Warangal Urban: Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science, Warangal (KITSW), Principal Prof K Ashoka Reddy has urged the students of the first year B.Tech course to master the technical skills to become the best engineers in the industry. The KITSW had been developing ‘Innovation, Incubation, Research and Entrepreneurship culture’ at the college, he said.
Addressing the newly joined B.Tech students, first year (2020-21), at an orientation programme held at KITSW campus on Wednesday, he said that the need of present technical education is knowledge, skills and qualities. “To achieve these parameters we have introduced a unique initiative ‘Innovation, Incubation, Research and Entrepreneurship culture’, and been training the students in problem solving ability, critical thinking, self-motivation, communication skills, mental fitness and physical fitness and ethics. KITSW has been maintained as a zero ragging institute with help of disciplinary committee (DISCO) under the supervision of faculty,” he added.
“We have been training the students for the development of soft skills, technical skills, leadership qualities and self-confidence from the beginning of the first year. As per the directions of the AICTE, we have been conducting an induction training programme for first year students on life skills for all round development,” he added.
Dean, Academic Affairs, Prof V Rajagopal said the main objective of the programme is introducing faculty, lab facilities and classrooms to the B. Tech. first year students. “The students try to improve the communication skills, team work, innovative thinking, technical knowledge, managerial competence, interactive abilities and strong H R base. Our management provided the latest games and sports facilities to utilize them,” he added.
All the Heads of the Department from the various engineering disciplines such as CSE, CSN, CSE(AI&ML), CSE (IoT), ECE, ECI, Mech., Civil, EEE, and IT, branches have given the presentation on the laboratories and equipment provided for the students. They said that all the departments were accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi. Meanwhile, Training and Placement Officer, Prof Srikanth Pabba said that a total of 571 students got placed in various MNCs in the campus placement drives during the last academic year despite Covid-19 pandemic.
