Khammam: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Wednesday tore into the three ministers from the district, branding them as ‘the three cheaters’ (Mugguru Mosagallu) and alleging that they had done nothing for public welfare in Khammam.
The ministers Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Thummala Nageswara Rao were instead busy amassing wealth by demanding 30 percent commissions in works sanctioned in their respective departments, he alleged.Addressing party cadres here, Rama Rao said BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had planned to irrigate 7.5 lakh acres under the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project, of which 90 percent of the works had already been completed. However, the Congress government had failed to execute the remaining works. Despite having three ministers from the district, farmers were not even provided urea, he said.
Poll guarantees such as Rs.4,000 pension, one tola of gold and scooties to girls were not implemented, Rama Rao alleged. He said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had promised to extend Rythu Bandhu benefits to tenant farmers and to increase the assistance to Rs 15,000 per acre. Instead, the assistance was reduced to Rs 12,000 per acre and released only once. Revanth Reddy lacked even minimum knowledge of irrigation, Rama Rao said, adding that the Chief Minister and his ministers were resorting to falsehoods to cover up their failures by blaming the BRS regime for the State’s debt burden.
According to the Reserve Bank of India and the Comptroller and Auditor General, loans amounting to Rs.2.80 lakh crore were raised during the BRS regime and the funds were spent on farmer welfare and creation of assets for the State. In contrast, Revanth Reddy was taking loans and using public money to pay taxes to his Delhi bosses to protect his own position, he alleged. Apart from hurling invectives at the BRS and its chief K Chandrashekhar Rao, the Chief Minister had done nothing, Rama Rao said.
Claiming that Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy was kneeling before Prime Minister Narendra Modi and assuring to join the BJP to shield himself from Enforcement Directorate raids and cases, Rama Rao said Thummala Nageswara Rao was busy attracting BRS corporators from Khammam into the Congress. Rama Rao said the BRS would build new leadership in Khammam by fielding youngsters in the upcoming urban local body elections. He called upon party cadres to work together in the next Assembly polls to win seven to eight seats in the erstwhile Khammam district.
