Migrant tigress leaves Bellampalli, strays into Thandur mandal
Forest officials reported that an adult tigress, identified as B1, moved from the wilds of Kannala village in Bellampalli mandal into the forests near Madaram village in Thandur mandal. Pugmarks were found on a hillock near Madaram, and officials anticipate that the tigress may have wandered towards the forests of Rebbena or Tiryani mandals in Kumram Bheem Asifabad by night.
Mancherial: A migrant tigress roaming in the forests of different Bellampalli mandal for nearly two weeks, strayed into the forests of Thandur mandal on Monday, bringing a relief to locals.
Forest officials said that an adult tigress, named B1, entered the forests of neighbouring Madaram village in Thandur mandal from the wild of Kannala village of Bellampalli mandal. Pugmarks of the tigress were recorded at a hillock near Madaram. The tigress might drifted towards to forests of Rebbena or Tiryani mandals in Kumram Bheem Asifabad by night, the officials predicted.
The tigress, migrated to the district from Kumram Bheem Asifabad district had stayed at Kannala before moving towards Dubbagudem and Varipet villages in Kasipet mandal on February 3. It then returned to Kannala village on Sunday. Around 10 villages in both Kasipet and Bellampalli mandals are living in the grip of fear, following the unprecedented movement of the tigress. They are now relieved with the the tigress leaving Bellampalli forests.
According to the officials, B1 had strayed into the forests of Mancherial district in search of territory in the third week of December. It originally belongs to Maharashtra’s Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve in Chandrapur district, migrated to Kumram Bheem Asifabad district a few months back.
