Hyderabad: With Ganesh Chaturthi to be celebrated on September 14, officials of the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) on Saturday focused on arrangements including Ganesh immersion (Shobha Yatra) and procession routes, lakes and baby ponds, deployment of cranes, sanitation, road conditions, electricity and other amenities.
MMC Commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy held a comprehensive review meeting at the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation’s Tarnaka headquarters with all zonal commissioners and heads of departments to finalise arrangements for Ganesh Chaturthi.
The Commissioner directed officials concerned to set up static and mobile cranes at major tanks, lakes and baby ponds, and to establish temporary or artificial immersion ponds, based on the requirement. “Identify the potholes and roads damaged along procession routes, and complete patchwork and repairs by September 13,” said Commissioner.
He suggested that control rooms be set up at major immersion sites such as Saroornagar Lake, Safilguda Lake and Kapra Lake to continuously monitor the immersion process, and to keep boats, swimmers, life-saving equipment, ambulances and paramedical staff on standby at major immersion centres.
The Ganesh Action Team (GAT) will be deployed for every 3 to 4 kilometres along immersion procession routes to promptly remove garbage.
All the government departments concerned should work together and ensure the Ganesh festivities are conducted with devotion, peacefully, safely and in a clean environment, the commissioner said.
