Vikarabad: Narrating in detail the atrocities being committed against them before the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes member Jatothu Hussain Nayak, villagers of Lagacherla said they were being dubbed ‘BRS Paid Batch’ when they questioned those denying them their rights and declared that they would not part their lands for pharma village.
Hussain Nayak visited the district and interacted with residents of Rotibanda thanda and Lagacherla in Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s Kodangal constituency here on Monday. Videos of the residents complaining about the atrocities being committed against them went viral on social media platforms. In one of the videos, a student is seen asking the Commission member to stop the arrests. She also questions the designation of the Chief Minister’s brother A Tirupati Reddy and demanded that stern action should be initiated against them.
“As a student when we speak to Tirupati Reddy garu, he calls us BRS Paid Batch. We are aware of our parents struggles. Why are we called Paid Batch?” the student argued.
In reply, Hussain Nayak assured that the arrests would be stopped. He also asked the residents to continue normal life in their villages and not to live in fear.
He visited the villages after many residents complained over the alleged atrocities committed by the police after the attack on Vikarabad Collector Prateek Jain and KADA Special Officer Venkat Reddy on November 12 at Lagacherla by residents against establishment of a pharma village during a public hearing programme.
The villagers and farmers are vehemently opposing parting their land for pharma village. After the incident, heavy police force was deployed from Mahabubnagar and Narayanpet districts and internet services were also disconnected for a couple of days and over 25 persons have been arrested so far in connection with the incident. Residents, especially women have been complaining that police had barged into their houses at midnight and assaulted them.
Hussain Nayak reached the village on Monday morning and sat with the residents. During the interaction, the women narrated about the police excesses and stressed that they would not part with their lands for the pharma village.
