NGO Hyderabad Youth Courage entered politics as its president Mohd Salman filed his nomination for the Jubilee Hills bypoll. Known for his social work, Salman accused the Congress government of neglecting minority issues, particularly the demand for a Muslim burial ground
Hyderabad: A city-based Non-Governmental Organization, ‘Hyderabad Youth Courage’, made its foray into politics with the HYC president Mohd Salman filing his nomination for the Jubilee Hills Assembly elections.
In a big rally, the young leader reached the office of the Returning Officer, Jubilee Hills constituency and filed his nomination. He was accompanied by his well-wishers.
Mohd Salman, a resident of Mehdipatnam in the city, rose to fame through his fundraising activities for the deprived sections of society a few years ago.
Salman made his presence felt in the Jubilee Hills assembly constituency soon after the death of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath in June.
He started visiting different localities falling in the Jubilee Hills constituency and interacted with the local residents primarily the downtrodden sections of the society. He set up his NGO office at Borabanda and provided rations, financial assistance and other help to the local families.
His demand for a Muslim burial ground for the local community became a major issue in the Jubilee Hills bye-elections.
Interacting with media persons, he said that the government cheated the Muslim community by assuring them to provide land for a graveyard. He criticized the Congress government for cheating the people. “Two cases were registered against me for raising a voice for a graveyard. In Chief Minister’s constituency, Muslim graveyards and places of religious significance were damaged. The CM is playing dual roles and cheating minorities,” he said.
