Nalgonda: A police constable assaulted three farmers waiting in line for urea at a distribution centre in Peddavoora village here.
Eyewitnesses identified the constable as Dushya Naik, who was reportedly deployed to maintain order at the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS) in Peddavoor. The farmers, all small holders from nearby villages, had been standing in a serpentine queue since early morning, desperate for the urea, essential for their paddy and cotton crops.
Sources say the confrontation erupted around 11 am when one farmer, frustrated by delays in distribution, questioned the constable about their fate.
According to a video being shared widely, Naik lost his temper and beat three farmers, Venkatesh (45), Ramulu (52) and Suresh (38). The issue was taken up with the local police and an inquiry was initiated.
