Hyderabad: Refusal to help Rama Rajyam, organization founder Veera Raghava Reddy with funds and logistics prompted him to carryout attack on CS Rangarajan head priest, Chilkur Balaji temple.
Raghava Reddy also runs a YouTube channel named ‘Rama Rajyam’, and his associates.
The police, following a complaint made by the head priest, registered a case against Raghava Reddy and his associates and arrested him on Sunday. He was sent to judicial remand. The police further made five arrests in the case and sent the suspects to judicial remand. “Six people were arrested in the case and sent to judicial remand. The case is being investigated thoroughly,” said Ch Srinivas, DCP Shamshabad.
Around 20 men and women had forcefully entered the house of CS Rangarajan, located near the Chilkur Balaji temple, on the morning of February 7 and started arguing with him and physically assaulted him, the head priest said in his complaint.
Ch Srinivas said that Raghava Reddy posted few Bhagavath Geetha slokas and motivated the viewers to join the Army to protect Hindu Dharma. He posted in the channel that people who register themselves will be recruited as “Rama Rajyam Army” with a salary of Rs.20,000. “First time, 25 members met Raghava Reddy January 24, at Tanuku. After four days of stay, all of them went to Kotappakonda where a contribution of Rs.2, 000 was collected from each individual and got the dresses stitched by a local tailor,” said the DCP Rajendranagar.
In February after getting the uniforms, all of them met in an independent house in Yapral, Hyderabad and took photos and videos in the uniform with the backdrop of the organization. “On February all of them went to Chilkur in three vehicles and assaulted the head priest after threatening him,” said the DCP.
