Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday dragged conjoined twins Veena–Vani into his abuse-filled speech targeting the opposition parties and, in a rare instance, also trained his guns on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for failing to accord national project status to the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation (PLRI) project.
Alleging that the BJP and the BRS had forged an unholy alliance, he said this was evident during the Lok Sabha elections.
“Are these two parties not bound together like fevicol bandham or the Veena–Vani bandham? Though their bodies might be separate, their heads are joined together,” Revanth Reddy said while addressing a public meeting in Karimnagar on Thursday.
Targeting the BJP, he said the Prime Minister had earlier promised national project status for the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation project, but even after three years, the status remained elusive.
“Yesterday, the BJP national president reached Mahabubnagar with empty hands after Telangana got a big zero in the Union Budget,” Revanth Reddy said. He added that even after six months, the BJP government had not launched a CBI probe into what he claimed were irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project. It was also not according to permission to question BRS working president KT Rama Rao in the Formula E race case, he alleged, claiming that the BJP was taking “protection money” from the BRS.
Countering the opposition’s demands to list out the Congress government’s achievements over the last two years, the Chief Minister asked the BRS and the BJP to disclose their achievements during their respective regimes.
“I will share the Congress government’s achievements in the Assembly,” Revanth Reddy said, claiming that 70,000 government jobs were provided to unemployed youth, 100 integrated residential schools were set up and crop loans were waived. He also claimed that a bonus was offered for paddy, all of which are claims repeatedly contested by the opposition.
