Hyderabad: BRS general secretary RS Praveen Kumar on Tuesday demanded that the police initiate suo motu action against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over his remarks about spilling the blood of BRS leaders to get good rains and crop yields. He appealed to DGP CV Anand in this regard, arguing that no one, including the Chief Minister, was above the law.
“If there is any professionalism left in the Police department, they should register a suo motu case and initiate preventive action before such rhetoric leads to law and order problems,” he said in a statement.
Raising strong objection to Revanth Reddy’s remarks, Praveen Kumar questioned the possible consequences if individuals interpreted them literally, resulting in attacks on farmers and assaults on Opposition leaders by psychopaths like the accused in the Shabad killings case. He said certain people could misinterpret the Chief Minister’s remarks and use ‘belt treatment’ against their wives and children in acts of domestic violence.
The former IPS officer maintained that the issue was not political but related to public safety. He referred to multiple instances of Congress leaders making such provocative remarks, including former MLA Mynampally Hanumantha Rao threatening to pour petrol on BRS leaders and former MLA T Jaggareddy threatening a police officer in public.
“No cases were registered over provocative remarks made by the Congress leaders. The DGP should uphold the dignity of the police force and protect citizens’ right to life under Article 21 of the Constitution,” he said.
Praveen Kumar suggested that the police issue notices to the Chief Minister under BNSS Section 45 after obtaining permission from the Speaker and seek his explanation. He warned that failure to curb such language of blood could trigger violence and threaten public peace across the State.
