Hyderabad: MBBS students at the state-run Kakatiya Medical College (KMC), Warangal, are enduring severe hardships due to unhygienic living and working conditions.
For the past two weeks, sanitation staff at the hospital have been on strike, leading to a sharp deterioration in cleanliness across the campus, students said on Monday.
The poor conditions are particularly evident in undergraduate and postgraduate hostels, which now face overflowing garbage and unhygienic surroundings.
“There has been a rise in dengue and viral fever cases among students, creating a serious health hazard. This is especially concerning as first- and second-year MBBS students are preparing for examinations, and their health and academic performance are being severely affected,” a group of students said.
They described the state of the hospital, hostels, and college premises as “pathetic” due to the absence of basic sanitation.
“We urge the authorities to resolve this issue immediately,” the students appealed. “Sanitation and pest-control measures are urgently needed to prevent further spread of diseases. We request urgent intervention for the sake of our health and academic future.”
