Hyderabad: The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB), which met here on Wednesday, approved an agency’s tender to lift and transport 220 metric tonnes of garbage for one year in the colonies of the cantonment.
President, Cantonment Board (PCB) Brigadier S Rajeev chaired the meeting and, briefing the resolutions passed, Chief Executive Officer Arvind Kumar Dwivedi told the media that the annual conservancy process, including lifting and transporting garbage from residential areas of the cantonment, would start from March 1.
Under the new tender process, the agency concerned has to collect the garbage, lift it from garbage vulnerable points (GVPs) and transport it to the Jawaharnagar dumping yard at the bidder’s own expense. Earlier, SCB bore charges to transport garbage from the transit point, Trimulgherry, to the Jawaharnagar dumping yard. “On an average, 220 metric tonnes of garbage is generated in a day in the cantonment area,” said the CEO.
The Board also approved an agency to scan and digitise approximately 20,000 files, including 5,300 building plans, 12,800 assessment and mutation files, and the remaining 2,000 miscellaneous files of the Cantonment Board. The last digitisation of records was carried out in 2015.
The Board also approved aerial cabling for 2.28 km for the installation of 54 poles as part of the implementation of telecom infrastructure, and the work will be taken up as per the directions of the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
