Hyderabad: Students Federation of India (SFI) Telangana committee extended its support to private professional and degree colleges that have called for indefinite closure of institutions over fee reimbursement dues from September 15 and 16, respectively.
In a statement on Saturday, SFI Telangana committee president S Rajinikanth and secretary T Nagaraju said the Congress government had assured to release fee dues and promised a transparent system after coming into power.
However, after assuming office, the government completely ignored the issue, they said, adding that “Worse yet, there are signs of a conspiracy to dismantle this welfare scheme altogether”.
According to SFI, students were being forced to approach the courts just to obtain their certificates. College managements were withholding certificates, citing non-payment of fees, while the government stands by as a mute spectator, they said.
Though the Congress government claims to be a people’s government, its complete lack of response to students’ issues was nothing short of outrageous, they said.
