Peddapalli: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director N Balram has set fresh production targets to make up for the coal output shortfall caused by heavy rains in the first half of the year and to meet the planned goals.
He stressed the need to produce 2.4 lakh tonnes of coal per day, along with the removal of at least 13.75 lakh cubic metres of overburden daily, to achieve the November target of 72 lakh tonnes of coal production and dispatch.
Balram conducted a detailed review meeting with Directors, Corporate General Managers, and all Area General Managers at Singareni Bhavan in Hyderabad on Thursday, examining area-wise coal production and dispatch status. He instructed teams to work collectively to ensure safe and efficient output.
Though SCCL has diversified into other business ventures, coal production remains its core activity, he said, urging officials to maintain focus. Along with mining, officials from personnel, safety, and other wings must ensure that no file or task remains pending and that all work is completed promptly, he cautioned.
He said opportunities for employees and officers must be provided strictly as per company regulations, warning that negligence would not be tolerated.
Balram reiterated that the company aims to achieve accident-free operations. Regretting three fatal incidents last year, he called on officers to ensure zero fatalities this year and to take strict measures to prevent accidents, particularly by increasing inspections in underground mines.
Reviewing new projects, he said that with approvals secured for the VK Opencast Mine at Kothagudem, a minimum of six lakh tonnes of coal must be produced from it by March next year. He also instructed that special focus be given to mines awaiting clearances, adding that four new mines should begin operations this year.
