Hyderabad: The Attapur police on Saturday arrested six persons, including a special revenue inspector working at the Bandlaguda Tahsildar office, for allegedly claiming benefits under the ‘Shaadi Mubarak’ scheme by submitting fake documents to the government.
The arrested persons are Dharavath Ashok Kiran (32), special revenue inspector, Bandlaguda Tahsil, Mohammed Jaffar (26), Mohammed Sarfaraz (26), Syed Musharaf Uddin (23), Mohd Akbar (20) and Mohd Etemaad (25).
According to the police, Etemaad, who is an Aadhaar operator, in collusion with Jaffar, Sarfaraz, Musharaf and Akbar, prepared Shaadi Mubarak scheme applications using morphed photographs of a man and woman and other documents that were obtained fraudulently, and submitted them at the Bandlaguda Tahsildar office through Ashok Kiran.
“Ashok Kiran, without conducting a field inspection, forwarded the applications to the authorities and recommended sanction of the amount to fake beneficiaries. The gang got Rs 21 lakh sanctioned from the government under the Shaadi Mubarak scheme through various applications, and the money was divided among the suspects and the people who provided bank accounts and other documents to facilitate the fraud,” said ACP Rajendranagar T Srinivas.
All the suspects were arrested and remanded.
