Six booked in Adilabad for bursting crackers without permission

Adilabad: A candidate and five others were booked for allegedly bursting crackers during a poll rally without obtaining permission in violation of model code of conduct here on Sunday.
Police said that a case was registered against Shahid Shaik contesting from ward number 16, Saleem, Harbaz, Riyaz, Gaffar and Mohsin for bursting crackers without taking permission from officials, based on a complaint received from staffers of a flying surveillance team.
Conducting public meetings, bursting crackers without prior permission and organising poll rallies beyond stipulated timings are prohibited.
The candidates have been requested to strictly follow the MCC guidelines. In the event of non-compliance, cases will be filed against those who flout norms.
Two booked for transporting liquor to sway voters in Adilabad
In another news from Adilabad district, two persons were booked for allegedly transporting liquor to influence voters in the district headquarters on Saturday night. Police seized 8.64 liters of alcohol worth over Rs 9,000 from the duo.
Police said a case was registered against Bhupathi Venkatesh and Gantikalla Mukhesh of Mochegalli in the town. Transportation of liquor is illegal. Stern action will be taken against those responsible for unlawful activities, the police warned.
