Supporters of Kandi Srinivas Reddy, who was the Congress candidate in Adilabad for the Assembly polls, on Wednesday launched a protest against induction of leaders like DCC president Sajid Khan, aspirant Gandrath Sujatha, former DCC chief Bhargav Deshpandey, and former agriculture market committee chairman Sanjeeva Reddy.

DEO K Ravinder Reddy attributed the success of the district to high percent of attendance, special classes, career guidance sessions, revision, practice, dedication of subject teachers and supervision by district authorities.

Returning Officer Rajarshi Sha said that nominations of 10 candidates were rejected due to various reasons, while papers of 13 nominees were accepted when officials carried out scrutiny of the papers

Kandi Srinivas Reddy of the Congress and Jangu Bapu, a nominee fielded by the BSP, raised objections with the returning officer for approving the nomination.

Candidates whose papers were accepted included Athram Suguna (Congress), Athram Sakku (BRS), Godam Nagesh (BJP), and others.

The police used dog squads to identify narcotic substances. They also checked vehicles and TSRTC buses to prevent smuggling of liquor, unaccounted cash and ganja.

Daravath Narender (BRS), Athram Suguna (Congress), Madavi Venkat Rao (Rashtriya Manav Party), Athram Bhaskar (Congress) were among those who submitted nominations.

Sanawar Shifa Ali, a student of Alphores Junior College secured the first rank in the erstwhile Adilabad district, while Ramaneela belonging to Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya-Chennur got the fourth rank
