Eatala Rajender said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had promised to waive crop loans upto Rs. 2 lakh without any condition during the polls and now he was imposing conditions to get loans waived.

Chengal Reddy said that every farmer, irrespective of the land in his possession, should merit consideration for the government support for crop investment.

MLA T Harish Rao outlined numerous flaws in the current guidelines and demanded immediate changes to support farmers effectively. He said the loan waiver norms must be simplified and inclusive, in order to waive loans availed by every farmer.

During meeting with Collectors at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister said the ration card would be used only to determine a farmer’s family.

“Our government has all the details. Once the family details of a farmer are confirmed, the loan waiver will also be made applicable to others,” Nageswara Rao said in a statement.

The conditions have already triggered apprehensions that several farmers could lose out on the waiver, for which they were waiting desperately ever since Revanth Reddy himself had egged them on during his campaign to go and avail loans immediately and that he would waive them off.

"Promising one thing and delivering another has become a habit of the Congress," says Senior BRS leader and Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao.

Former minister Niranjan Reddy argued that seeking complaints from farmers regarding loan waivers would create disputes among them and said the Congress party, which gained power by making election promises, was now looking for excuses to escape those promises.

According to the GO, the waiver would be limited to Rs.2 lakh per one farmer’s family. The food security card database of the Civil Supplies department would be considered as a parameter to define a farmer’s family.

Telangana's current borrowing capacity, limited by the FRBM guidelines, poses a significant obstacle. The State can only access loans up to Rs.52,000 crore within these limits.

He dared the Chief Minister to do the same and prove that he was not trying to cheat the people for votes in the Lok Sabha elections once again.

So far, Rs 261 crore was deposited in the bank accounts of 49,544 farmers in the district, he informed.

Celebrations organized by BRS leaders witnessed large gatherings where farmers participated and conducted 'palabhishekam' to the Chief Minister's portrait.

Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy said the entire loan waiver amount would be deposited into the accounts of 6.08 lakh farmers by August 30.

About nine lakh farmers will be relieved from the loan burden.
