While the loans upto Rs.1 lakh will be waived from Thursday in the first spell, loans upto Rs 1.5 lakh will be cleared by the end of July in the second spell and the remaining loans, those upto Rs 2 lakh, will be waived before August 15.

All farmers should receive a waiver of up to 2 lakhs, he demanded, pointing out that as per the GO, the government would be considering only one member of a family for the loan waiver by taking the entries in the ration cards into consideration.

Eatala Rajender said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had promised to waive crop loans upto Rs. 2 lakh without any condition during the polls and now he was imposing conditions to get loans waived.

Chengal Reddy said that every farmer, irrespective of the land in his possession, should merit consideration for the government support for crop investment.

During meeting with Collectors at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister said the ration card would be used only to determine a farmer’s family.

“Our government has all the details. Once the family details of a farmer are confirmed, the loan waiver will also be made applicable to others,” Nageswara Rao said in a statement.

The conditions have already triggered apprehensions that several farmers could lose out on the waiver, for which they were waiting desperately ever since Revanth Reddy himself had egged them on during his campaign to go and avail loans immediately and that he would waive them off.

Former minister Niranjan Reddy argued that seeking complaints from farmers regarding loan waivers would create disputes among them and said the Congress party, which gained power by making election promises, was now looking for excuses to escape those promises.

According to the GO, the waiver would be limited to Rs.2 lakh per one farmer’s family. The food security card database of the Civil Supplies department would be considered as a parameter to define a farmer’s family.
