The District Educational Officer (DEO) and a junior assistant were caught red-handed by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials while allegedly accepting a bribe at the DEO office in Mulugu
Out of 205 students, 180 had the mid-day meals provided in the school. Of thes, 18 students had vomiting and stomach pain. DEO Janardhan Rao claimed that this was because none of the 18 students had breakfast that day.
The Director of School Education issued orders posting DEOs with full additional charge (FAC) in different districts. The new appointments are made on administrative grounds and come into effect immediately.
However, the efforts of the DEO to regulate has come ‘a stitch too late’, as nearly 80 per cent of the private schools have already emptied their shelves.
