The ICC confirmed on Saturday that the star all-rounder won't be able to continue in the mega tournament due to a left ankle injury sustained during the league match against Bangladesh on October 19.
Pandya had injured himself when he appeared to twist his left ankle while trying to stop a shot in his follow-through. He played no further part in that match, and was taken for scans.
Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya is reportedly not completely fit to be playing the remaining league stage, which will include matches against Sri Lanka, South Africa and Netherlands in that order.
Hardik Pandya had slipped in his follow-through while playing against Bangladesh in Pune on October 19 and missed the clash against New Zealand in Dharamsala on October 22.
India set to face defending champs England in Lucknow on October 29, followed by a match against Sri Lanka in Mumbai on November 2. Pandya's participation in the Lucknow match remains uncertain.
