The Congress government’s flagship events, the Bharat Summit, Miss World pageant and Gaddar Film Awards, have sparked controversies ranging from diplomatic blunders to cultural insensitivity. Critics accuse the government of misplaced priorities amid financial distress and mounting public welfare demands.
BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan criticised the Congress government over the Miss World controversy, calling it a disgrace to Telangana. He demanded an apology from CM Revanth Reddy, questioned the lack of FIR, and confirmed that an RTI was filed for clarity.
Milla Magee, who exited from the competition on May 16, alleged that she was asked to socialise with a few men as a sign of gratitude for their financial sponsorship of the event being organised by the State government
They accused the Congress government of disrespecting women and damaging Telangana’s international reputation, contrasting it with the previous BRS administration, which they said upheld women’s dignity and promoted festivals like Bathukamma as proud symbols of the state’s cultural heritage.
In her statement, Sabitha Indra Reddy accused the Congress government of tarnishing the reputation of Telangana and India on the global stage. Citing Milla Magee’s allegations of being pressured to "please middle-aged men" and "treated like a prostitute," she demanded that the government take responsibility and reveal who was behind the alleged misconduct.
