The investigation has revealed that Kalavathi had joined the CPI (Maoist) 20 years ago and was an Area Committee member of the organisation at the time of her arrest. 

The case was originally registered on November 23, 2020, at Munchigput police station in Visakhapatnam, in which Naganna was intercepted by Munchingput police while carrying Maoist literature and other incriminating materials.

The NIA's denial came in an affidavit filed in the Bombay High Court, dismissing contentions by the US firm Arsenal Consulting, which had claimed that the damning material including a conspiracy to assassinate the Prime Minister

The other man accused in the case is Sachin Waze, former Assistant Police Inspector in the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU).
