The investigation has revealed that Kalavathi had joined the CPI (Maoist) 20 years ago and was an Area Committee member of the organisation at the time of her arrest. 

The case was originally registered on November 23, 2020, at Munchigput police station in Visakhapatnam, in which Naganna was intercepted by Munchingput police while carrying Maoist literature and other incriminating materials.
