Vanajeevi Ramaiah’s demise an irreparable loss to greenery, says KCR

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao expressed his deep sorrow over the passing of Vanajeevi Ramaiah and hailed his unparalleled contributions to environmental conservation.
Chandrashekhar Rao paid tributes to Ramaiah, who lived his life with the motto “Vruksho Rakshati Rakshitaha” (Protect trees, and they will protect you). Ramaiah’s mission of planting over one crore trees and spreading awareness about the importance of greenery was described as a noble and monumental goal.
The BRS chief praised Ramaiah’s life as an inspiration for future generations, highlighting his transformation into “Vanajeevi” to nurture and protect trees. He acknowledged the extraordinary sacrifices made by Ramaiah in his lifelong dedication to the environment, calling it unmatched in human efforts for global conservation.
He also recalled the significant role Ramaiah played in supporting the Telangana government’s flagship afforestation programme, “Haritha Haram,” which aimed to enhance greenery across the State. Ramaiah’s efforts were instrumental in bringing the program closer to the people.
Reiterating the importance of green wealth over material assets, Chandrashekhar Rao emphasized that the true legacy for future generations lies in preserving biodiversity. He also criticized the destructive environmental policies that lead to deforestation and harm to wildlife, stressing the urgent need for thousands of individuals like Vanajeevi Ramaiah in today’s world.
He expressed his heartfelt condolences to Ramaiah’s grieving family, admirers, and environmentalists. He prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace, acknowledging the profound loss of a global environmentalist in Telangana.
