London: Telangana Day celebrations were held at the office of the Indian High Commission, and representatives of various Indian diaspora organisations from across the United Kingdom participated.
The Telangana Association of the UK (TAUK) represented Telangana and showcased the state’s rich culture through a special cultural dance performance and treated guests to authentic Hyderabadi biryani.
Speaking on the occasion, Indian High Commissioner Periasamy Kumaran conveyed his greetings to the people of Telangana and the Telangana diaspora on the occasion of Telangana State Formation Day. He stated that the Indian High Commission officially organises State Formation Day celebrations of various Indian states to promote unity among the diaspora and showcase India’s diverse cultural heritage on foreign soil.
Dance performances by children of Telangana expatriates, along with Telangana folk and cultural songs, received appreciation from the audience. A special Bathukamma presentation, symbolising the spirit and identity of Telangana, became a major attraction of the event and captured the attention of all attendees.
Speaking at the event, TAUK President Ratnakar Kadudula recalled that under the leadership of TAUK Founder and Telangana movement leader Anil Kurmachalam, numerous protest programmes had been conducted in front of the same High Commission during the Telangana statehood movement, following the call of K Chandrashekar Rao. He said it was a matter of great pride that the organisation was officially representing Telangana at the very same venue today.
TAUK Vice President Suresh Budagam and General Secretary Supraja Pulusu thanked the participants.
