ACB arrested Peddapalli mandal surveyor Pendyala Sunil and private surveyor Rajender Reddy for allegedly taking a Rs 10,000 bribe to speed up a land survey request. Evidence included a voice recording and bank transfer details before their arrest
Peddapalli: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Tuesday arrested Peddapalli mandal surveyor Pendyala Sunil and a private surveyor for allegedly taking a Rs 10,000 bribe from a farmer.
According to ACB officials, Sunil, posted at the Peddapalli Tahsildar’s office, had demanded Rs 20,000 to conduct a land survey, later agreeing to accept Rs 10,000. The farmer had applied for the survey eight months ago, but the process was delayed. To expedite it, Sunil allegedly sought the bribe.
Unwilling to pay, the farmer approached the ACB, which laid a trap. Sunil instructed the complainant to transfer the amount via PhonePe to the bank account of private surveyor Rajender Reddy instead of receiving it directly.
ACB officials collected evidence, including a voice recording of Sunil demanding the bribe and bank transaction details, before conducting searches at the Tahsildar’s office. Both Sunil and Rajender Reddy were arrested.
