Hyderabad: The State government has proposed to conduct the ensuing session of the State Legislative Assembly for eight working days till October 5, during the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting chaired by Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy. However, the Opposition parties have demanded that the session should be held for at least 20 days. The Speaker had sought proposals from all the political parties on the issues required to be discussed during the session, based on which a decision will be taken.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Legislative Affairs Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Finance Minister T Harish Rao, Congress Legislative Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi and others attended the BAC meeting.

During the meeting, the State government has proposed discussion on 10 subjects including IT industries, Dalit Bandhu, Haritha Haaram and agriculture among others. Around four-five bills as well as two ordinances will be introduced in the Assembly during the session. The Chief Minister said that the State government is keen to use the Assembly as a platform and inform the people of the State about its numerous initiatives. He clarified that the government was ready to hold meetings for any number of days as was being demanded by the Opposition parties. However, he suggested that only meaningful and important issues should be discussed in the House.
Chandrashekhar Rao suggested for formulating new rules and regulations for smooth functioning of the State Legislature. He asserted that the protocols of MLAs should be strictly followed. He said the Telangana State Legislature was setting an example for others in the country and was providing ample time for the Opposition parties irrespective of their representation in the House. On the occasion, he suggested for establishing a club exclusively for MLAs in Hyderabad on the lines of the Constitution Club for the Parliament members in Delhi. He requested the Speaker to visit and examine the Constitution Club in Delhi along with the team comprising the Legislative Affairs Minister, the Finance Minister, the Opposition leaders, before commencing the project.
