Telangana: Basar temple income goes up slightly, thanks to Vasantha Panchami
The temple registered a revenue of Rs 1,08,25,110 in cash, 78 grams of mixed gold, 4.80 kilograms of silver ornaments and 36 foreign currency notes by way of offerings by devotees from November 26 to February 13
Nirmal: The famed Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devasthanam-Basar received an income of Rs 1.08 crore in the last 79 days. A counting of hundials was held on the premises of the shrine on Thursday.
In-charge executive officer Sudhakar Reddy, in a statement, said that the temple registered a revenue of Rs 1,08,25,110 in cash, 78 grams of mixed gold, 4.80 kilograms of silver ornaments and 36 foreign currency notes by way of offerings by devotees from November 26 to February 13.
The officials stated that the temple saw a slight rise in its income due to the auspicious Vasanth Panchami or birthday of goddess Saraswathi and other occasions during which a large number of devotees from several parts of not only Telangana but Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka thronged the shrine. The abode of the goddess of learning registered an income of Rs 1.03 crore from August 28 to November 25.
Deputy commissioner of the endowment department Naveen Kumar, Sharath Pathak, former chairman of the governing council of the temple, and Assistant Executive Officer Sudharshan Gou supervised the counting.
Legend has it that the sage Vyas had worshipped goddess Saraswathi during the times of Mahabharata by settling on the banks of the river around 5,000 years ago.
