Nalgonda: Telangana Diagnostic Centre setup at the district government hospital has become a big gift to the poor people particularly belongs to rural areas regarding healthcare.
Telangana Diagnostic Centre was set up in the district government hospital with Rs 2.5 crores and installed world-class diagnostic test machines. In all, 57 types of diagnostic tests including diabetic profile, thyroid profile, liver function test, renal function test, lipid profile, complete blood picture, C-Reactive Protein (C-RP) test, Rapid Plasma Reagin, Rheumatoid factor, chikungunya, dengue NS1, IgM, IgG and others can be conducted at the diagnostic centre.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Nodal Officer of Telangana Diagnostic Centre Dr Arundhathi Busireddy informed that in the first phase, samples from the patients for the tests were being brought from three Urban Primary Centres of Panagal, Manyamchelka and Line Wada and four PHCs, i.e., Thipparthi, Narketpally, Akkenapally and Kattangur. We are daily receiving 40 to 50 blood samples from these seven PHCs. All 35 PHCs in the district would be cover after the completion of the contract process of vehicles for shifting the samples to the Centre. The reports would be sent to the Medical Officer of the PHC through online within 24 hours of collection of the blood samples from the patients, she added. The medical equipment of Telangana Diagnostic Centre was more advanced than of the machines used by the private labs in the district, she maintained. Nurses and technical staff of PHCs were also trained in collecting samples from the patients for the test, she added
A woman K Umadevi, a resident of Vidhyuth Nagar in Nalgonda, said that she earlier paid Rs 2,000 to get the test of Rheumatoid factor at private diagnostic labs. She got the same facility free of cost through Telangana Diagnostic Centre. The nurses of Line Wada PHC, whom she consulted, collected her blood sample for Rheumatoid factor and sent to the Centre. She received the report at the PHC the very next day, she added.
Another person Uppunuthala Srinivas, a native of G Chennaram in Nalgonda a mandal, said that he has earlier spend the money for lab test more than the medicine and doctor fee. When he visited Manyamchelka PHC after swelling in the legs, the staff collected samples of his blood and urine and sent them for the test. The doctor was also prescribed medicine after examining the lab reports, which would help in getting the correct treatment.
