Hyderabad: The Telangana Employees Coordination Committee, comprising former employee union leaders and former legislators, issued an ultimatum to the Congress government to act by June 2, marking Telangana Formation Day, and fulfil its promises to government employees, pensioners and workers. The committee charged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy with ignoring long-pending employee demands.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Monday, former Minister V Srinivas Goud demanded immediate release of five pending DAs, implementation of the new PRC, resolution of pension issues, and health card coverage for all, including homeguards, before June 2.
“It is shameful that homeguards have not even received their salaries or access to basic healthcare,” he said.

Former Council chairman K Swamy Goud pushed for abolishing the new pension scheme and restoring the old one, extending the benefits to over three lakh retired employees. He also demanded for clearance of the retirement benefits pending for 10,000 retired employees.

Former TNGOs leader G Devi Prasad accused the government of stalling the implementation of the promises to employees by constituting multiple committees, leading to unnecessary delay. “The Rs 8,000 crore owed to pensioners must be released. Employees’ issues cannot be postponed indefinitely,” he warned, demanding resolution before State Formation Day.

Former employees’ leader Ch Vittal questioned why DAs were not being released when the Centre had cleared six installments. “This is not politics, but about the survival of employees,” he said.

The committee announced plans to meet all political parties and intensify pressure on the government.
