Hyderabad: Three major fire accidents in the last eight months in Telangana have claimed lives of around 68 people.
In May last year, fire broke out in a residential-commercial building at Gulzar Houz near Charminar in Hyderabad and killed 17 people, including children, and injured many. The blaze was reportedly triggered by an electrical short circuit and suffocation due to smoke was a major cause of death.
In June last year, a chemical factory explosion triggered a massive fire at the Sigachi Industries plant. This is regarded as one of Telangana’s worst industrial disasters, with the death toll rising to around 46 and many being disabled.
On Saturday (January 24), five people lost their lives in a major fire that broke out in a four-storey building housing a furniture shop in Nampally, Hyderabad.
