Hyderabad: As a part of its intensified regulatory vigilance and enforcement, the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana (TGDCA) in the year 2025 conducted a total of 244 seizures for violations of various Acts enforced by the Department and detected 84 sub-standard drugs circulating in the market.
The Director General (DG), DCA, Shahanwaz Qasim, on Wednesday said that the DCA has adopted a proactive and vigilant regulatory approach to continuously monitor, detect, and take stringent action against violations relating to medicines, with the objective of safeguarding public health.
Recognising the serious threat posed by spurious medicines to public health, the DCA detected spurious drugs, which included widely used therapeutic categories such as anti-cholesterol medicines, antihistamines, and anti-epileptic drugs, many of which were falsely labelled as products of reputed pharmaceutical companies.
Several consignments were found to have been illegally transported from other States and circulated within Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana, indicating an organised interstate spurious drug network, a press release said.
