Hyderabad: The team of Thama, the latest entrant in Maddock Films’ popular horror comedy universe, interacted with the media in Hyderabad on Monday, September 29, as part of its promotional campaign. The film, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, features Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles, with veteran actors Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in important roles. It is scheduled to release on October 21.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik under the Maddock Films banner, Thama follows the studio’s track record of combining supernatural elements with humour, a formula that has been widely appreciated by audiences in recent years.
Ayushmann Khurrana, speaking at the press meet, described the film as a new experience for him. “This is the first time I have attempted a role that demanded such extensive action. It was a learning curve, and I enjoyed the process thoroughly. Working with Rashmika for the first time has also been special. Maddock Films has created a strong identity with its horror comedies, and I am happy to be part of this universe,” he said. He added that portions of the film were shot in Ooty and Tamil Nadu and that it is being released as a pan-India project.
Rashmika Mandanna said she believes the film will stand out for its storytelling. “Maddock horror comedies are known for their concepts, and Thama is no different. Every film gives me an opportunity to try something fresh, and in this one, I have played a character that I think will genuinely surprise audiences. It is a responsibility to live up to the expectations set by the previous films, but I believe we have done justice,” she said.
The actors also spoke about the positive response they received in Hyderabad, noting the growing importance of the city as a promotional hub for pan-Indian releases. With a mix of established performers and a director known for his distinct style, Thama aims to extend Maddock Films’ streak of successful horror comedies when it opens in theatres on October 21.
