Hyderabad: Different voluntary organizations and political parties have announced their support to the farmers’ fight against acquisition of their lands and demanded that the Congress government scrap the Government Order on establishment of Pharma City.
An all party meeting was conducted here on Thursday under the aegis of Anti Pharma City Committee and Telangana Peoples Joint Action Committee (TPJAC).
During the meeting, representatives of voluntary organisations demanded that the government release a white paper on the extent of land acquired so far and the purpose for which it has been used. The government should share the land use plan with the public, failing which agitations will be launched, they demanded.
They also demanded that the government implement the Land Acquisition Act, 2013 and issue ownership rights to the farmers. The representatives passed resolutions to this effect.
Many farmers, especially those from Medipally, Nanak Nagar, Tatiparthy, Kurumidda under Yacharam mandal are up in arms against the State government. About 800 farmers from these villages have obtained stay orders from the Court against acquisition of their nearly 2,500 acres.
Since the last 50 days, the farmers from Kurumidda have been conducting relay strikes. The farmers are charging that despite court orders, the government floated tenders for Greenfield roads and two private companies have been allotted contracts.
When objections were being raised over the works, police personnel were deployed in the village to facilitate execution of works, they added.
