TSSPDCL got the first rank in the categories of performance improvements, technology adoption, quality service and customer empowerment and efficient operations. It stands at third position in the category of green energy.
The summit representatives and participants appreciated the Telangana government and power utilities for their efforts in supplying uninterrupted power supply to all categories of consumers and for providing 24-hour free power to the agriculture sector in the State.
Raghuma Reddy said that historical reforms were taken in the Indian power distribution sector. Establishment of ERCs, Accelerated Power Development Program, Electricity Act-2003, Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY),
Accelerated Power Development and Reform Programme (APDRP), Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) and Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) schemes were introduced as operational reforms while State Electricity Board (SEBs), Financial Restructuring Plan (FRP), Revamped Distribution Sector (RDS), Ujjwal Discom Assurance Yojana (UDAY), and Revamped Distribution Sector (RDS) scheme as financial reforms.
He said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was giving top priority for the development of the power sector in the State. Before the formation of Telangana, the consumers witnessed four to six-hour power cuts in Hyderabad and six to eight hours cuts in villages and towns.
Further, industries faced two days of power holidays in a week. With the support from the Chief Minister, discoms were able to provide uninterrupted power supply to all sectors within six months. With a view to improving operational efficiency in discoms, various technological initiatives like 100 per cent implementation of IRDA metering technology, Scada and DMS for supervision of power supply, digitalisation of integrated customer service centres to promote paperless transactions, smart grid projects in Jeedimetla and RT DAS technology to measure AT&C losses were introduced.
A dedicated customer service centre, web portal for TS iPASS, consumer mobile app, encouragement for e-payments, Urja Mitra app and other consumer-centric initiatives have been taken up.
To promote clean energy generation, the organisation has implemented various schemes to promote distributed solar generation, solar rooftop net metering, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan Yojana (KUSUM) under State government rooftop policy and Electric Vehicles and Energy Storage Systems (EV and ESS) policy.
