Hyderabad: Telangana Schools Technical Colleges Employees Association (TSTCEA) on Wednesday urged the JNTU-Hyderabad to hold fact-finding committee (FFC) inspections in private professional colleges transparently and probe the non-payment of salaries to staff.
The private colleges, according to the association, submit affidavits to TAFRC and JNTU-Hyderabad claiming that they are paying salaries as per the 7th Pay Commission. However, in reality, even minimum wages are not being paid. If Form 16 and Form 26AS of faculty members are reviewed, the actual situation will be revealed, said A Santosh Kumar, president of TSTCEA.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) – Hyderabad is set to commence FFC inspections for the grant of affiliation for the academic year 2026-27 from April 10.
The JNTU-Hyderabad, as per the TSTCEA, had said some engineering colleges in the State have unqualified principals. “If that is the case, how are inspections of these colleges being carried out?” the association questioned, and wanted the university to release the list of such colleges on its official website.
“In many colleges, gratuity payments required under the Gratuity Act of 1972 are not being implemented as per rules. Neither the State nor the Central government is monitoring this issue. Universities and boards concerned are also overlooking these matters,” he said.
